Emotion detective is an iPad application for young children with autism spectrum disorders. It works with the child’s strength in the visual field, presenting key social skill concepts in a fun and engaging way .
Scott Bellini identifies core social skill deficits in individuals with ASD in 2006. Emotion detective adapts these findings into 4 fun games that will engage your child in learning. By asking the child to help solve exciting mysteries that have been occurring around the town of Emotiona, it also helps children to:
- Identify emotions in others and themselves
- Understand non-verbal forms of communication or body language
- Initiate and maintain conversations
- Understand the perspectives of others
- Become more self aware.
The game is full of eye spy screens, interactive animations and exciting sounds. Featuring inbuilt reward systems and only positive reinforcement, Emotion Detective keeps your child motivated and on task. Players are rewarded with an Emotion Detective Certificate in recognition of their learning and achievement. This can be emailed and printed once they have solved all 4 mysteries.
